Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre
Ready for an adventure?
A gold-mining village lost in the Osa rainforest
Dos Brazos is a fantastic place to discover the exceptional biodiversity of the Osa rainforest. The village is located in the heart of the rainforest, between the two branches of the Rio Tigre, in the “Reserva Forestal Golfo Dulce”. It’s on the border of the Corcovado National Park, and the surrounding nature is incredibly rich and diverse.
In this area, you can hike magnificent trails through the rainforest
(Rio Tigre, Corcovado, Bolita…), with waterfalls, natural pools and breathtaking views of the Golfo Dulce.
The village has access to Corcovado National Park. You can also meet gold miners, go birdwatching (the area is world-renowned for birdwatching), discover the hidden traces of pre-Columbian villages…
An inspiring community
Dos Brazos has lived for many years around gold extraction. Today, gold panning is illegal. The community has decided to take its future into its own hands, to protect and promote the incredible natural environment that surrounds it, and to show it off to travellers.
Many gold panners have become guides. They know the nature that surrounds them perfectly, and have many stories to tell…
When you visit this area, you support the community and play an active part in this exemplary approach.
