Casa Aire Libre is located in the heart of the jungle, in the “Reserva Forestal Golfo Dulce”, between the two sections of the Rio Tigre and 200 meters from a still unknown entrance of the Corcovado National Park.It is the best place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature or to practice many activities, guided or not, on site or in the immediate vicinity.

HIKING WITHOUT GUIDE

The easiest way is to follow the rivers and go up to the Cascades. You can also hike the trails of Bolita. They give access to a beautiful forest, ocean views and waterfalls. The entrance fee is $10 per person. The entrance fee is valid for your entire stay. They will give you the map.

BOLITA WITH GUIDE

Just a stone’s in front of the house, discover the incredible and secret treasures of the Osa Peninsula. You will discover superb points of view on the Pacific and the Golfo Dulce. You will go along rivers and dive under waterfalls. You will meet gold diggers and discover their secrets… An exciting day full of extraordinary discoveries. The guide will propose to you, in the middle of course, an almuerzo of gold digger.

5 minutes walk from Casa Aire Libre, you can go to Corcovado National Park from the El Tigre Trail. You will experience the awakening of nature. You will try to see the 4 species of monkeys, the coatis… The path allows you to discover an incredible vegetation, fabulous trees, splendid views on the Golfo Dulce… You will guess traces of pre-Columbian life… In the middle of the path, the guide will offer you a delicious lunch wrapped in banana leaves. The 7,5 km route is rather difficult on the first 3 km. It crosses the National Park on 3 km.

NIGHT HIKE

Night hiking in the jungle allows you to see frogs, snakes, insects and other nocturnal animals. Many mammals, which are difficult to see during the day, are much more active at night: the tapir, the kinkajou, the armadillo, the ocelot… Staying still without light and listening to the strange sounds of the forest is a unique experience.

BIRD WATCHING

The Osa Peninsula is home to about 370 of Costa Rica’s 900 bird species (10% of the world’s total). Dos Brazos is an extraordinary site for birdwatching enthusiasts. It is easy to see scarlet macaws, toucans, lorises, hum-mingbirds… If you want to see a particular species, our guides will do their best to help you find them. This excursion, through the village and the river, is particularly suitable for those who do not want to make long hikes.

GOLD MINER TOURS

Discover the history and culture of gold panning on the Osa Peninsula and learn the artisanal techniques of gold diggers with real “oreros”. This activity is particularly suitable for children.

HORSEBACK RIDING

The guide will pick you up with the horses in front of the house and you will ride along the river and the trails. The horses are adorable and the ride is a moment of pure happiness. This activity is especially suitable for younger people.
